I would like to discuss about the difference between domestic brands and foreign brands. It’s hard to say which one is better than the other because each one has its own pros and cons. Let’s make some examples in cosmetic industry.

Foreign brands used to be the only choice from Chinese consumers, such as Lancôme, Esteelauder and etc. They represent the standard of high quality and premium. And they lead the trends and technololgy in cosmetic industry. If we talk about the cons of foreign cosmetic brands, it would be the cost performance. It won’t be a good choice for all the consumers who live in 3-5 tiers or teenaged students.

And it’s hard for Asia consumers find a suitable color from a foreign brand cosmetic at the beginning, since the people ‘s skin tone in western country is colder than Asian.

Domestic cosmetic brands make up the cons of foreign brands. They used to have high cost performance for all the consumers. And they understand Chinese consumer better than the foreign brands. For an example, “花西子” use Chinese traditional culture to communicate the product benefits. It use the words “轻烟” to describe the loose powder is very floating which makes people to get the point easier and more quickly.
