Review:

Coast: Noun- next to the sea – generic – just close to the ocean.

Beach: specific for a place that you can go to sit by the ocean.

Ex:  I’ll cross my fingers

“pinky swear”:  when two people lock their pinky fingers together in order to make a promise.

Reading:

To My Future Boyfriend, I Am Not Broken

Scrape:  when you cut your skin a little bit, like when you fall on dirt.

Ex:  The little cat scraped me while we were playing.

Bump/lump:  swelling from an injury

Ex:  My daughter fell from her bed and got a big bump on her head.

Bruise (brew – ses):  when your skin changes color after an injury.

Ex:  I hit the corner of the table and there is a bruise on my hand.

Cried (kride) —  no W

Something – TH – stick your tongue out!!

Thankful  – TH

Unhesitant (un – hez – ih – tant)

Unexplainable (un – ex – plain – ah – bul)

Rhythm (reh – them) (rith – uhm)

“hold out for me”:  wait for me/ hold on/ keep waiting.

Ex:  Hold out for me, and I will be back in a second.

bitter:  not sweet.  Resentful, hard to bear, distressful.

Ex:  This apple tastes bitter.

Moods:  more general, not tied to a specific incident.

Emotions/ feelings:  those are instant chemical released responses.

Stretch:  to pull apart.

  • Your smile stretched across your face (big smile)
  • I stretched my muscles

Ex: I stretched the noodles and made them longer.

Shattered (sha – terrd):  broken into a lot of small pieces.  Usually not fixable.

Ex:  She is shattered and it is hard to heal her heart.

Post – means after

Pre– – before

Post – college:  after college.

Ex:  Post – pregnancy
