Island (eye-land) — make sure to get the D!
Marooned: to place in an isolated and often dangerous position. Usually talks about on an island. To be left without any resources.
Ex: The soldier was marooned on the island.
Uninhabited (un – in – hab- ih – ted)
Stayed (stay – d)—get the D!
Castaway: a shipwrecked person.
Ex: A castaway from titanic survived around 50 years.
Capsize: when a ship tips over and is no longer upright.
Ex: A ship capsized at night, and they asked for help from another boat.
Palm leaves(palllm): leaves from a palm tree.
Ex: There are lots of palm leaves falling down in autumn.
Palm tree: a tree that is found in humid areas, has a long trunk, and big leaves. Sometimes has coconuts on it.
Ex: There are lots of palm trees in Hainan province.
Humid: moisture in the air, when the air feels sticky or wet when it’s not raining.
Ex: Shanghai is very humid.
Ex: The weather is very humid in Shanghai, a lot of foreign friends told me they think it’s too humid.
Shanghai is too humid of a place/ It’s too humid in Shanghai.
