Reading:

Individuals:  as persons/ as a single person.

Ex:  People are individuals.

Ex:  We are all individuals so we cannot depend on others.

turn out:  could end up/ could result in

ex:  Last night it turned out that I cancelled my class.

Well-being:  overall health/ total health

Ex:  I think my sons well-being is very important at any age.

Applies (application):  to be of use/ relevant.

Ex:  Do you think this applies to your life? = do you think this is relevant to your life?

Priceless:  has no price, something that is soooo valuable that you can’t put a price on it.

Ex:  Health, love and family are priceless.

Ex:  My son broke my priceless plate from the Ming Dynasty.  I was so mad.

Ex:  My memories are priceless.

Dynasty:  a series of family members who are famous for their success, wealth, power etc.

Ex:  In Tong Dynasty, women who were bigger were considered more beautiful.

Ex:  In Ming Dynasty women who were thinner were considered more beautiful.

Known for = famous for

Independent:  someone who depends on themselves, and no one else.

Powerful/strong

Enough of = are there enough?  A lot of/ do we need more?
