Vocabulary

petite – small eg: “It looks weird when I hang out with my friend because she’s so petite and I’m so tall.”

atypical – not typical eg: “It was atypical to work on a weekend.”

gullible – believe everything easily eg: “She is so gullible that anyone can hustle her.”

sarcastic – says things that are obviously not true eg: “I can never tell if he’s serious, because he is always being sarcastic.”

stoic – showing little or no emotion or reaction eg: “His stoic poker face had all the other players worried.”

mysterious – unclear eg: “Egypt is still a mysterious country.”

soft-spoken – someone who talks very lightly or quietly eg: “People think I lack confidence, but actually I’m just soft-spoken.”

traditional – follow old beliefs eg: “Their traditional family values meant she needed to get married soon.”

conservative – careful and less open minded eg: “A conservative approach to investing is usually safer.”

puzzled – confused, can’t find eg: “The question left them all completely puzzled.”

enigmatic – very complex and detailed and puzzling eg: “His speech was very enigmatic, it was hard to know what the point of it was.”

enigma – a mysterious question or problem which a solution can’t be found. eg: “That’s like a riddle inside a mystery wrapped in an enigma.”
