Vocabulary

to escape – to run away, to avoid someone or something

e.g. Three scary guys came after me so I tried to escape.

pants – trousers, 裤子

e.g. I love wearing comfortable pants.

formal – 正式

e.g. I don’t like wearing formal clothes, I like wearing comfortable clothes!

start-up – 创业型公司 a new company that’s trying to grow

e.g. I just started a company, it’s now a start

to win the genetic lottery – to have been very lucky from birth, to have very good genes that make you pretty/smart/,…

e.g. He’s a very good-looking guy who’s also very smart and kind, it’s like he won the genetic lottery.

lottery – 抽奖

genetic – relevant to DNA

physics – 物理

predict – to make a guess about the future

e.g. I predict Miranda will do her homework and upload it for our next class.

to pretend – 假装

e.g. Miranda likes to pretend I’m a superstar.

deadly – means that it will kill you

e.g. Crossing the road without looking left or right is deadly.
