Vocabulary

Dictation (n) – you are writing down exactly what your teacher is saying, so that teacher can check for mistakes afterwards

e.g. Michelle had a dictation today.

to stand up (v) –  to get up from your chair

e.g. Matilda stood up and began to recite her poem.

 sign (n) – an evidence of something happening

e.g. There were no signs Michelle’s nose would get runny.

The boy cut himself another thick slice of cake and started eating it fast. There were still no signs of giving up.
