Vocabulary

Acupuncture – sticking small needles in your skin to try and solve health problems, puncturing the skin with needles.

eg: “I got acupuncture, but it didn’t work for me.”

shrimp – xia mini lobster, with a curled tail.

eg: “I saw a guy eating live shrimp in Qingdao.”

ineffective – does not work well

eg: “If the rainy season is too long, the solar panels will be ineffective.”

mull it over – to think about something for a while, before you make a decision.

eg: “Are you still mulling it over, whether you will leave your job or not?”

KPI – Key Performance Indicator – to evaluate the success of a particular individual or organization

skeptical adj. – hard to believe things easily

eg: “He addressed the skeptical people in the group by guaranteeing it was not a trick.”

vying V.- to strive in competition or rivalry with another; contend for superiority

eg: “With so many people vying for the same position, some office politics will be inevitable.”

“Vying for high level positions, makes office politics inevitable.
