Set up with – have friends arranged a date for you and someone they know eg: “I set my friend up with my coworker, I think they’ll be good for each other.”

blind date – never seen or met this person before eg: “I’ve never been on a blind date, I would need to see the person before I agree to go on a date with them.”

online dating – met through a dating website or app, have checked each other’s profiles and photos

love at first sight

demographics – information about people’s lives and habits, like age range, income, hobbies, work eg: “Companies focus on key demographics before they write any ad campaigns.”

relationship history

superstition – a belief based on faith, doing certain actions will somehow affect the future eg: “Breaking a mirror is a superstition in western culture that means you will have 7 years bad luck.” “Don’t be so superstitious (adj) opening an umbrella inside will not make you shorter.”

full of themselves – they think they are a very great person eg: “Todd is so full of himself, he thinks every girl wants to marry him.”

Superficial – only care about what’s on the outside eg: “I try not to pay attention to superficial people because they don’t really care about who you are, just what you look like.”

genuine – being real and authentic eg: “His words were genuine, he was not lying.”

pragmatic – choosing the most logical solution eg: “He was usually more pragmatic than this, but today was very emotional for him.”
