Vocabulary

overtime- working past your typical schedule

eg. I have been working a lot of overtime lately.

vacation-jiaqi- when you have a longer time off from work

eg. I will take a vacation/holiday after my co-worker gets back from his.

off-work– not on duty or when you don’t have to be at work

eg. I get off work late every night.

weekend– Saturday and Sunday

eg. I have the weekends off.

eg. Last year my colleague, my girlfriend, and I went to Hainan.

Every day my company has an important project.  Every day I have over time especially recently. This year I have been working on laser radars. I’m responsible for the optical design in my company. I think sometimes my work is boring. Every day there are new problems we have to fix or solve. I should have a vacation after two days but my co-worker did not finish his work so we need to go into work during tomb sweeping festival. I have only this Saturday off. I have to work on Sunday and Monday.

My company doesn’t allow me to take very much vacation. I get only five days of vacation every year. But I get 10 days off for Chinese New Year and seven days off for the National Holiday.
