Speaking exercise

Hobby vs Hobbies:
“I don’t have time for a hobby” would mean I don’t have time for a singular hobby. We would typically describe a single hobby rather than use “hobby” on its own. For example: I don’t have time for fishing. Here the focus is on the hobby itself.

“I don’t have time for hobbies” implies I have no time for any hobbies at all, there is no need to list how many hobbies you don’t have time for. In this sentence the focus is on how you have a lack of time rather than focusing on why you don’t have time for the single hobby.

Vocabulary

Loan: To borrow/lend to someone for a period of time

Excavator: Large bulldozing, front-loader or back-hoe equipment and industry.

Compliment: To say something nice about a person or to give nice attention to something someone has done.

“Kim Jong Un is a smart cookie.”
