dough – the mixture of a powder like flour and a liquid like milk or water, butter and sugar

eg. cookie dough, bread dough

batter – mixture of flour and liquids  for cakes

no rhyme or reason – without any reasonable explanation or purpose

eg. There’s no rhyme or reason as to why the provinces and streets are named the way they are.

Actually we are a little bit hurry because we have to prepare them before the Christmas Eve. We have traveled at Nanjing a few days ago. When we came back it’s left only 2 days for these things. At first we make a list and we found that there’s so many people that we want to send them the gifts. We have to make a big amount of cookies and other desserts. I think making cookies is easier than making traditional Chinese desserts because making cookies we only need to mix all the things together and make them into little disks and bake them. But, for other Chinese desserts it takes us a lot of time to deal with the dough.
