Vocabulary

Reckon (v): 1- to think or believe.
E.g.: I reckon it’s going to rain.

Linguistics (n): 1- the scientific study of language.
E.g.: He majored in linguistics at Harvard.

Discreet (adj): 1- careful not to cause embarrassment or attract too much attention, especially by keeping something secret.
E.g.: They are very good assistants, very discreet – they wouldn’t go talking to the press.

Figure of speech (n): 1- a word or phrase used in a non-literal sense for rhetorical or vivid effect.
E.g.: “Break a leg” is a figure of speech, meaning “good luck”.

“It costs an arm and a leg”: 1- used to describe anything that is considered to be extremely expensive or excessively pricey.
E.g.: The food at that restaurant is great, but it costs an arm and a leg.
