Vocabulary

Free day – a day with no work or plans

eg: Are you free today?

day off – no work or school day

eg: When are your days off? My days off are Monday and Tuesday.

half day off – only work or school for half the day

eg: I just work a half day tomorrow.

assume – to believe something is true, but don’t know for sure

eg: I assumed he was single, but really he had a girlfriend.

take a break – stop doing sth. and start again later

eg: We will take a lunch break

get some rest – means you are tired, need to relax, lay down, sleep, take a nap

eg: You need to get some rest for your interview tomorrow.

tired of – don’t like this thing anymore

eg: I’m so tired of noodles.

Grammar

Do you have the day off?

Do you not have the day off?    (You are assuming they do)   (you want to make sure)

Don’t you have an apple    (Using a Contraction, so the sentence changes a little, meaning is the same)

Don’t have a day off?

You don’t have an apple.    No rising tone. It is a Statement

You don’t have an apple?    with Rising tone, it is a Question
