Vocabulary


Pushy – insisting, really wanting me to do something

Novelty – (noun and adjective) something that is interesting and difficult to find, 新奇*

*Note: You can also use the word “novel” as an adjective to describe something that is novelty.

Hygiene – personal care

Hygienic – clean, not encouraging disease

Drain – (noun or verb) an area,

Drainage – the ability of a liquid to drain

Collect – to gather

Pool – (noun or verb) when a liquid collects

Flip Flops – a kind of sandal worn to wet areas or during the summer, 人字拖*

*Note: There are many different names for Flip Flops (USA/UK), such as thongs (AUS), jandals (NZ), slops (S.Africa).

Drinking Straw (Straw for short) – the thin plastic tube that you use to drink a liquid, 吸管

Grammar


Present perfect progressive verb tense (To have been doing) indicates that something has happened in the past and continues today.

Phrases


Missing [something or someone] can describe lacking something or someone both emotionally and physically, we usually use context to figure this out. The difference is that when you use the word “miss” without the “ing” it can only refer to missing something emotionally.
