Vocabulary

independent – 独立

opposite – 相反

e.g. The opposite of black is white.

e.g.

dependent – 不独立

to borrow – 借钱 to receive money from someone that you have to repay later

e.g. My friend borrowed money from her parents so she could buy a house.

rent – the monthly fee you have to pay to a landlord to live in an apartment/house

e.g. Rents in Shanghai are much higher compared to rents in other cities in China.

close – 关

e.g. The opposite of close is far.

utility fee – the utility fee for a house usually includes electricity, water, …

e.g. In Europe, utilities cost way more than in Shanghai.

tax – 税

e.g. The government receives a lot of money through taxes.

at least – 最少
