Vocabulary

Per – for every/each

Ex. Water costs 2 kuai per bottle.

Ex. Please sit 3 students per table.

Exhibit – when used as a verb, it means ‘to show.’ When used as a noun, it normally refers to a museum display that shows something.

Plug in – 充电

Plug/Socket/Outlet – 充电器

Specimen – 标本, in English, the word “specimen” is almost always used to describe a living thing in a science experiment (实验)

Grammar

The response to “how have you been since we last spoke” should be an adjective.

Ex. Long time no see! How have you been? –I’ve been great, but a little busy. You?

The present perfect verb tense (“I have been”) describes something that is in the past and continuing. In Mandarin, this is shown with the repeated use of 了.

Ex. 我学了一年的英语了。= I have been learning English for one year.

Phrases

To run out = to finish, therefore the phrase “to run out of battery” means to lose electricity (when something is not plugged in) and the phrase “to run out of power” means to lose electricity when something is plugged in.

Original:

Yesterday we went to the museum of nature with my parents and my husband. I invited my grandmother , but she wasn’t willing to come with us.  After dinner, my father drove the car and we spent half a hour on the way.

The are 5 floors, two floors are on the ground and others are underground. It is interesting that the entrance is on the second floor. Because this is nature, the important part is about nature, including in animal, plant, insect.

First we saw the lots of specimens, such as different kind of tortoise, bird, sheep, cow, dinosaur etc. they are like really animal so much and the size almost is 1:1. So cool! We saw the evolution process, which is from animals to human. Unfortunately, we didn’t have enough time to enjoy everything, we just spent two hours. Maybe next time, my husband and i will go to there again. Waiting for it.

First, we saw lots of specimens, such as different kind of tortoises, birds, sheep, cows, dinosaurs, etc. They were really realistic animals and they were sized to scale. So cool!
