Vocabulary

syllable – each sound in a word.

eg: Some words are only one syllable.                How many syllables are in the word, ‘syllable’?   There are three syllables in the word.

Pronunciation

go to the store – godu thastore

an apple – a-na pull                       apple is 2 syllables,   but with a connection,  an apple, is also only two syllables or 2.5

Word Phrases – pronounce a new word, with word you already know

love that cat – luv tha(t)cat

jump through it – jump thru-it

get email – gett-y-mail

a quick look – a-kwik-luuk

bit – bi(t)      the T is very soft           a bit of – a bid(t)uv     sounds ALMOST like a D

place a bid – play-sa-biD

we beat them – wee bee d(th)em

pretend – pree tend,     or          preh tend

to do – t’du

ballet – Bal-lay

valet – Val-lay

ballot- bal lut

valley -val-lee
