Vocabulary

To be in a rush – to have to hurry, to do something fast because you have to

e.g. Cynthia was in a rush to finish her work so she could go to class with Tanya.

Hot pot – 火锅

Numbing – depriving one of feeling or responsiveness.

e.g. Sichuan spicy is very numbing.

Height – how tall someone is

e.g. What’s your height?

A tad – a little bit

e.g. Cynthia can handle food that’s just a tad spicy.

Prom – a formal school party  where everybody dresses very elegantly

e.g. At the prom we wear high heels.

To go over – to review

e.g. Cynthia might have to go over her months of the year in English because I think she forgot about februari.

To brew – to make (but especially for beverages such as coffee and beer)

e.g. In order to brew coffee, you need coffee beans.

Cuppa – slang word for cup

To constrain – to limit

e.g. Tanya has to constrain herself with regards to her eating habits.

Grass jelly – 仙草
