Writing exercise

It’s hard to describe what kind of pressure you will have, when you choose to live in Shanghai. On one hand, you have to adapt to the fast tempo of life. When you walk on the street of Shanghai, it is easy to realize a lot of people walking in a hurry or talking on the phone. Unconsciously, you just try to catch up the other’s footsteps to integrate into them. For the work, you will do your best to finish every task from your boss as soon as possible. Then you find out that next time your boss will expect you to get everything done even faster. It seems like everyone is so busy, but I’m always wondering, whether they really understand what they are busy for.

On the other hand, you have to take care of other things. For the work, you have to be cautious to make sure your boss feel satisfied with your work then you will not lose your job. For the social life, sometimes you have to take part in some activities, which you are not interested at all. But because they are important for your work or all your co-workers will go together, then you have to go to avoid missing working opportunities or being seen as a killjoy.

It’s hard to describe what kind of pressure you will have/be under/ succumb to, when you choose to live in Shanghai. On one hand, you have to adapt to the fast tempo of life. When you walk on the streets of Shanghai, it is easy to realize a lot of people walking in a hurry or talking on the/their phone. Subconsciously, you just try to catch up with the others’ footsteps to integrate into them. For work, you will do your best to finish every task from your boss as soon as possible/in a timely fashion/manner. Then you find out/realize that the next time your boss will expect you to get everything done even faster. It seems like everyone is so busy, but I’m always wondering, whether they really understand what or why they are busy for.
