to recoup your losses – to get your losses back, to be compensated
recoupment – a term used in the insurance industry to signify that one has been compensated
the point is moot – it doesn’t matter, irrelevant
moot –
brunette – a girl or a woman with brown hair
redhead – a woman with red hair
raven-haired – a woman with black hair
to take my arm (figurative, not literal) – do something together
I’ll sing for my supper. I don’t expect it for free – he’ll work for his own food, he doesn’t need someone to give it to him for free (street musician)
