puddle – some standing water on the street or sidewalk eg: “There were so many puddles on the street today because it was raining so hard.”

creek – very small river eg: “The creek flooded and became like a river.”

Suzhou creek seems small in comparison to Huangpu river.

thought out – to think about something enough for it to work. eg “He had a carefully thought out argument.”

overlap – two things occupy the same time or space eg: “His classes were overlapping, so there was no way he could attend both.”

occurs – it happens eg: “When did the accident occur.”

occurs to -you realized something eg: “When i traveled abroad it occurred to me that people are more different than i thought.”
