to express sympathy: that’s a shame / that’s unfortunate / that sucks (very casual) / oh… too bad / that’s too bad

to express happiness: oh… that’s good / that’s great to hear / good to hear /  that’s good news / awesome ….

to express interest: oh that’s interesting / well isn’t that interesting / well how about that… / wow, ok … / oh right… / oh ok…

to express “there is no problem with your statement”: no worries / no problem / ok cool … ok no problem … / that’s fine

go out to travel – i was travelling / i was on a trip 

most of the time = shi jian
