Vocabulary

fashion model – very good-looking people who walk down a runway to show people the clothes they’re wearing

e.g. Fashion models these days tend to be very skinny.

marital bliss – when you’re married and very happy

e.g. John and Linda just got married, they’re enjoying marital bliss right now.

to conclude – to reach a conclusion, to come to a conclusion

e.g. We’ve read a lot of documents today and we can conclude that this person is not guilty.

saliva – 口水 spit

e.g. Saliva is a fancy word for spit.

Consecutive (adjective) – after each other, one after another, continuously

e.g. Timothy went to class on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. He went to class for three consecutive days.

hormone – it’s a chemical in your body that influences things including the way you feel.

e.g. Your body has a lot of hormones and cortisol is one of them.

cortisol – a hormone that among other things regulates stress levels in your brain

e.g. We just read about a study that says married people have lower levels of cortisol in their body.

immune system – a mechanism in your body that protects you from getting sick

e.g. If you get a sick a lot, it means you have a weak immune system.

to take a sick day – to stay at home instead of going to work because you’re sick

e.g. Timothy doesn’t take a lot of sick days.
