Chinese parents are always controlling (ADJ). He has very controlling parents. I don’t like controlling parents. I don’t want to be a controlling person.
sandstorms – windy and dusty

smog – smoke and fog (pollution)
eg: “Smog is really harmful to your health.”
hole in the wall -describes a small or hard to find place, like a restaurant or bar
eg: “My favorite food in Beijing was a hole in the wall Wonton place.”
lenient – not strict
eg: “My parents were very lenient.”

Write about why you wanted to go to university away from your hometown.
Original –
When I was in high school, I was thinking about my future where should I have my college. Which city should I go to. At that time there were two cities that I was interested in, Beijing and Shanghai. But after considerate thinking I chose Shanghai, and finally I did it. I went to college in Shanghai. The reason that I chose the college in other city, not my hometown, because I would like to see the different cities and a big world. I was curious about the life in other cities and I wanted to be a independent person. I wanted to control my own life. Actually my parents was lenient, they trusted me a lot. But I wanted be more free.
