keep someone up to date – update a person

eg: I haven’t gone to my company for a long time and my colleague tries to keep me up to date with meeting notes.

pesticide – something used  to kill pests, like a spray or formula.

eg: There’s pesticide on most farms.

keep sth./sb. in check – to prevent sth. from becoming too powerful or large

eg: China has the one child policy to keep the population in check.

coal – black rock used to make energy, like electricity

eg: Coal is China’s number one energy source.

invade – to attack a country in war. to occupy it

eg: Japan invaded many Asian countries in the past

strategic – helpful in a plan, gives an advantage

eg: North Korea is geographically strategic in Asia.
