Vocabulary

Ache (v): 1- to hurt.
E.g.: My head aches.

Headache (n): 1- pain in your head.
E.g.: I have a terrible headache.

Stomachache (n): 1- pain in your head.
E.g.: I have a terrible stomachache.

Technique (n): 1- a way of doing an activity that needs skill.
E.g.: We have developed a new technique for detecting errors.

Manufacture (v): 1- to produce goods in large numbers, usually in a factory using machines (adj: Manufactured)
E.g.: He works for a company that manufactures car parts.

Heat (n): 1- the quality of being hot or warm, or the temperature of something
E.g.: How do you manage to work in this heat without air conditioning?

Heat up (v): 1- to make something warm or hot:
E.g.: Let’s see what happens when I heat it up.

Threat (n): 1- a suggestion that something unpleasant or violent will happen, especially if a particular action or order is not followed. 2- Danger
E.g.: Her parents made a threat to take away her mobile phone if her grades didn’t improve.
E.g.: Even though for most of these kids this is not an immediate, dramatic health threat, this is an issue that could really be reducing quality of life and well-being for many children and youth.

Threaten (v): 1- to tell someone that you will kill or hurt them or cause problems if they do not do what you want. to be likely to cause harm or damage to something or someone.
E.g.: They threatened the shopkeeper with a gun.
E.g.: Air pollution is threatening the health of Chinese people.

Journal (n): 1- a serious magazine or newspaper that is published regularly about a particular subject. 2- a written record of what you have done each day, sometimes including your private thoughts and feelings.
E.g.: The library subscribes to all the major science journals.
E.g.: She kept a travel journal during her trip to South America.

Sugary (adj): 1- containing lots of sugar.
E.g.: You should avoid eating too many sugary snacks.

Survey (n): 1- an examination of opinions, behavior, etc., made by asking people questions.
E.g.: A recent survey revealed that 58 percent of people did not know where their heart is.

Dehydrated (adj): 1- not having the normal amount of water in your body so that you feel ill or weak.
E.g.: After running in the sun for hours, he was severely dehydrated.

Plain (adj): 1- not decorated in any way; with nothing added:
E.g.: She wore a plain black dress.
