to ask for a raise – to ask for more money at work, salary increase

e.g. Carol should ask for a raise because her boss asked her to do more work!

exclamation sign – !

e.g. We use exclamation signs when we want to signify that we are saying something loudly.

e.g. I am Carol!!!!

question mark – ?

e.g. We use question marks when we want to signify that we are asking a question.

e.g. Are you Carol?

to exclaim (verb) – to suddenly say something loudly

e.g. On hearing the news, she began to exclaim.

to persist– to go on stubbornly in spite of opposition, importunity, or warning

e.g. If you want finish a marathon, you have to persist and keep running, no matter how many blisters you have.
