F2F Class notes 16th September (Eddie)

Original:

It is my first time to do an assistant to manager. Today, I was having my holiday at home. In the morning, my Chinese general manager Jennifer told me I need book flight tickets from Shanghai to Beijing for her and our Philippines general manager Maria. Then I got up with sleepiness and turned on my computer. Maria’s assistant emailed me that Maria wanted a front row aisle seat to comfort her.

Just as I thought, booking the tickets for managers was not easy for me. Choosing seats was after paying for the tickets. There was no front row aisle seat as Maria’s requirement. Many complicated things happened during this booking the tickets time.

At last, Maria’s assistant told me Maria will fly from Manila, not Shanghai. Whether I return Maria’s ticket or not, I am still confused.

As a novice assistant, I am kind of complaining. What I can do is drawing its lessons and be more cautious next time.

Edit:

It is my first time working as an assistant to a manager / manager’s assistant / assistant manager / PA. Today, I was enjoying my holiday at home. In the morning, my Chinese General Manager Jennifer told me I needed / asked me to book flight tickets from Shanghai to Beijing for her and our company’s Philippines General Manager,  Maria. I was still half asleep when I turned on my computer. Maria’s assistant emailed me to say that Maria wanted a front row aisle seat for more legroom.

Just as I thought, I struggled booking the tickets. Seat selection could only be made after payment. There was no front row aisle seat as per Maria’s requirement. For a while I didn’t think I would ever be able to finish booking the tickets.

At last, Maria’s assistant told me Maria would fly from Manila, not Shanghai. Now I am stuck with a ticket I don’t know whether to cancel or not.

With only three weeks into this new job, the number of things I need to learn can sometimes seem overwhelming. What I can do is draw lessons from everything and put them to good use in the future.

That’s way too [psychological].

That’s way too expensive.

I think booking online tickets is way too complicated when it could be very easy.
