Vocabulary
savory – something like a meaty or salty taste
eg: “You can eat sweet or savory dumplings during the lantern festival.”
bring on – to cause or lead to something
eg: “Eating too much brought on some weight problems for her.”
check on – to look at or examine (someone or something) to see if there are any problems
eg: “I need to check on the pizza in the oven to make sure it doesn’t get burned.”
bring out – to make more visible, known
eg: “That color really brings out your eyes.”
Homework
Use both the literal and figurative meanings of BRING ON in one sentence. Write another sentence using CHECK ON and BRING OUT. They should both be part of a short story.
