Vocabulary
to zipline – a sport where you have a harnass that’s attached to a rope and you glide down the rope. Usually very high up and very fast.
e.g. Chuyi went ziplining when she was in Chiang Mai.
sleep mask – a mask you put over your eyes so you can sleep better
e.g. It’s really convenient to have a sleep mask on an airplane so you don’t have to sleep in the light.
glide – 滑
to empathise – to understand someone else’s feelings
e.g. Tanya is going to start taking Chinese classes. I think she’ll empathise much more with her students after that.
dialect – a local variation of a language
e.g. In Shanghai, the local dialect is Shanghainese. In Hong Kong, the local dialect is Cantonese.
fanny pack – a small bag you keep on your body
e.g. A lot of travellers use fanny packs to put to their money in because it feels safer.
Speaking exercise
She was closed to some cage for a long time. – She was locked in a cage for a long time.
