Our company held / organised / put on…. a mid-autumn festival activity / event  in a villa / mansion which is located in sheshan, a lush place situated in the far southern corner of Shanghai. The villa was well maintained / kept well / done up really well (special design) and the scenery was pristine. We spent a very / incredibly / amazingly / super meaningful time there, preparing dishes / doing all the cooking without a maid. It’s commonplace for Chinese people to get together / gather / meet up to have a party during traditional festivals. However something bad occurred / However unfortunately, there was something really bad that occurred / came up. Many / a large portion / quantity / a whole bunch colleagues of mine got a sore throat during / at some point throughout/ at some stage during / between the start of the day and the end of… the day because of  / due to / as a result of / resulting from the bad air / the fumes from materials in the house. So / As a result / Considering this / Taking this into consideration, we moved / This caused us to / forced us to move to the garden outside / outdoor garden to get (for / in search of) some fresh air, so we didn’t overexert our lungs. Based on what I heard, the environment in a room / house is / indoors is of great importance to the health of human beings. Actually / In fact / In actuality it’s difficult for us to differentiate good from bad materials, but there are still loads of ways to distinguish them scientifically. Typically for ordinary people / the average joe it’s too hard / it proves difficult / it’s overly challenging (Usually it proves difficult for the average joe).

technically it’s right as far as the dictionary is concerned, but generally we don’t say that.

You can’t be late for class… but technically you can do whatever you want, however I would prefer it if you followed our rules.

extravaganza / feast 

starting sentences with words like unfortunately / incredibly/ smartly / intelligently/ amazingly / sadly / happily

vicious cycle 

spill over – to impact / affect sth
eg. you don’t want your bad moods to spill over into your work

implication / ramification = negative results
eg. the implications of you not controlling your moods is that you might lose your job and upset your friends and family

If you allow things to spill over into other areas, there may be serious implications for you.
