anthropologist (anne – throw – paul –oh – gist):  a scientist that studies physical, cultural and biological development of humankind.

primarily (prime – mar – ih – lee)

intimidate (in – tim – ih – date)

pitch:  the level of sound.

Eg.  Some people with high pitched voices are annoying.

Primates:  animals – monkeys/ apes.

Formidable:  intimidating, and also demands respect.  可怕的

Eg.  A formidable opponent = someone you are nervous to go up against.

Formidability:  able to be formidable.

Eg.  I think my father is formidable.

Eg.  My boss has formidability around the office.

Dominant:  it’s in charge/ it’s the boss.

Eg.  I write with my right hand because it is my dominant hand.

Eg.  Which is your dominant hand?

Dominance:  your ability to be in charge/your ability to be the boss.

Eg.  My one cat is always trying to prove its dominance over the other cat.

Scientists are showing new information on why some men have lower voices than others.  Before it was always thought/usually thought that males had/got/ get a lower voice to attract women.

Human male characteristics show that strength and dominance provides a competitive edge in fighting or scaring other men… more so that it does to help attract women. = Male voices are more important for scaring other men than attracting women.
