Vocabulary

glass – material
a glass – bei zi
glasses – yan jing
eg. this glass is made of glass and my glasses are also made of glass

hong jiu = red wine 
bai pu tao jiu = white wine
eg. i love to have a glass of red with lunch

bai jiu = chinese spirits / chinese white wine 

one glass of red wine = normal
two glasses of red wine = a little tipsy 
three glasses of red wine = drunk
four + glasses of red wine = feel sick and dizzy and maybe throw up

tou yun = dizzy
he zui le = drunk
tu = throw up / puke / spew / vomit 

feel sick 
eg. I feel sick and I want to throw up, but I can’t…

how often do you get drunk?
I get drunk about once a year

I get tipsy about once a month

How many drinks per week do you have?

cocktail = ji wei jiu
spirits = whiskey / vodka / gin / brandy

have you ever had a cocktail?
i never drink cocktails / I haven’t ever had a cocktail

I often drink with my friends < > I don’t often drink with my friends

sleep in – to sleep longer than normal
eg. i slept in this morning until 12 because last night i went to bed late / I didn’t get to sleep until late / I couldn’t fall asleep until late

I love weekends because I can sleep in.

verbs can become nouns when you want to describe them.

run = verb = dong ci
running = verb / noun

my sister’s cooking is good / my sister’s food is good
