Q: What did you do today? (Past tense, something that you did)

A: Today I woke up at 7:30 and left for work at 8. Then I ate a steamed bun and a tea egg. After work I came here and ate dinner and waited for my class.

A: Last Saturday I took an exam, then dropped off my clients who are over 85 years old. And last Sunday I worked all day on the Dong Tan

The – do not use THE if something has a name. eg: “I’m going to the Beijing.”
