Vocabulary

ingredients – all the things you need for a recipe, to prepare food

eg: “You need a lot of ingredients to make curry.”

from scratch – to cook some food from the basic ingredients, like, flour, sugar, salt

eg: “Pizza is best when it’s made from scratch. When you make and shape the dough, toss it in the air, and bake it fresh in the oven.”

Add Up – to make sense

To make sense : to seem to be logical or true.
Example: “Her story didn’t add up, I think she was lying, it didn’t make sense”

going on – happening

eg: “Why is the party cancelled tonight? What’s going on?

up to – doing (something)

eg: “What were you up to when you had P.E. class?”

Grammar

What is going on?

What has been going on at your job?

How is it going?

How are you doing?  How are you up to? How are you doing something?

Have you ever had to add up all the students here?
