Vocabulary

Pyramid scheme– a form if investment (illegal in the US and elsewhere) in which each paying participant recruits to further participants, with returns being given to early participants using money contributed by later ones

eg. Mary Kay, beachbody, Herbalife, Amway

Today, I was waiting at a spotlight. A lady came straight towards me and introduced herself: I am the boss of a store selling fitness food like yogurt and salad. Then she gave me an advertising sheet and asked me could you add me on wechat? I refused and remembered once I added her by her mother’s request in the similar situation. Her moments on wechat were post frequently. And most of them seemed positive life moments such as she and her sellers worked hard to promote their food. But actually, they just gathered together, enjoying themselves and persuaded more people to joining in. Persuading one people successfully, the seller could get a bonus. They were not really selling the products.

Today, while I was waiting at a stoplight/traffic light. A lady came right up to me and introduced herself. She told me she was the the boss of a store, selling fitness food, like yogurt and salad. Then she gave me an advertising sheet and asked me if she could add me on wechat? I refused and remembered once I had already added her per her mother’s request in another similar situation. She posts wechat moments frequently.  Most of them seem like positive life moments. You can tell that her and her sellers work hard to promote their food. In reality, they just gather together, enjoying themselves and persuading more people to join in. If a seller persuades another person, they can recieve a bonus. They don’t actually sell the products.
