Vocabulary

If you’re too ______(ADJ.) to  _____ (Do sth.)

skeptical – that you don’t easily believe things.

eg: Some people are actually still skeptical that the Earth is round. They think it is flat.

shock factor – the ability for news or media to get your attention by surprising you

eg: The shock factor sometimes lures me in, but I always question the story afterwards.

lure V. – to make something come near

bait – the food used to lure an animal into a trap

clickbait N. – something you want to click on, but that actually has nothing useful.

eg: “You’ll never guess who President Xi Jin Ping had dinner with…”

tabloid – a fake or highly speculative news publication

eg: Now it’s hard to tell the difference between tabloids and real news shows.

speculate V. – to guess based on knowledge of the subject

eg: We need to see research, not just go(proceed with the project) on speculation.(N.)

eg: Go on speculating, continue, speculating.

projector N. – to display a video or image on a wall.

eg: This projector is amazing, it even has WiFi.

Grammar

Have somebody do Sth.   –   To ask or tell someone to do something.

I will have my friend call you later.

Have somebody to do Sth. –   Have a specialist that will do a certain thing.

eg: We have somebody to fix the WiFi, we hired an IT guy last week.

BOTH:    We have somebody to fix the WiFi, so we will have him fix the WiFi.

Have Sth. Done – Have the WiFi fixed, Have the project completed by march.   Have dinner ready by 7.

Shift the blame
E.g.:Tom shifted the blame to Mary for missing the train.

E.g.: I thought I was influenced by her judgement on that man.

pragmatic – doing the most logical and practical thing

E.g.: This product was designed for pragmatic.
E.g.: This company is prefer to the person who is more pragmatic among these candidates.

mimic V. – to copy or repeat sth in the same way
E.g.: Children usually mimic something that they heard from TV or adults’ speaking.
