Record – something which notes the details of something else
Ex. We need a record of the meeting (more general maybe writing)

Recording – an audio or video record
Ex. We need a recording of the meeting ( audio or visual)

Noise – plural = noises

Bang – onomatopoeic for sounds that are often explosions or things hitting each other

Skim – to take the top layer, to read just the surface and to bounce across the surface
Ex. You must skim the fat off the surface of the soup before you eat it
Ex. Did you read the notes from the meeting? – no I just had time to skim them briefly
Ex. When I was a child I used to love skimming stones across the river near my grandmother’s house
