Vocabulary

they’ve been doing it for ten years

the whole process is complicated

the coach will penalize you if you don’t finish it very well

dress up – to wear nicer clothes than usual, like a suit or dress

eg: “We need to dress up for an annual company performance.”

voluntary – can choose to do it or not

eg: “The performance is not really voluntary, they have to do something.”

mandatory – required by a law or rule

eg: “The event is not mandatory, but you still shouldn’t refuse it without a good reason.”

lively – very active and energetic

eg: “The annual dinner is always very lively.”

severance package – money paid to an employee when they are fired or let go.

eg: “I’d rather quit and get the severance package than continue working there.”
