Vocabulary

Celebrated (adj): 1- famous for some special quality or ability.
E.g.: He was a celebrated opera singer.

Genre (n): 1- a style, especially in the arts, that involves a particular set of characteristics.
E.g.: Drama is my favorite movie genre.

Tragedy (n): 1- a very sad event or situation, especially one involving death or suffering
E.g.: The earthquake was one of the biggest tragedies in the country’s history.

Tsunami (n): 1-an extremely large wave caused by a violent movement of the earth under the sea 2- 海啸
E.g.: The 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami killed hundreds of thousands of people

Imitation (n): 1- made to look like something else.
E.g.: It’s not real silk – it’s just an imitation.

Protest (n/v): 1- an occasion when people show that they disagree with something by standing somewhere, shouting, carrying signs, etc.. 2- a strong complaint expressing disagreement, disapproval, or opposition.
E.g.: The people are protesting against the war.
E.g.: The company has received many protests about their new project.

Opposition (n): 1- strong disagreement. 2- in some political systems, the elected politicians who belong to the largest party that does not form the government. (v: to oppose)
E.g.: There is a lot of opposition to the proposed changes.
E.g.: The Opposition has complained about the government’s proposed tax increases.

Intentional (adj): 1- on purpose.
E.g.: Did you leave his name out by accident or was it intentional?

Abortion (n): 1- the intentional ending of a pregnancy.
E.g.: She decided to get an abortion.
