catch flack = get slammed = receive criticism


have a fit = of anger / of laughter 赌气

conniption = hysteria = a sudden fit of anger

He’s gonna get a conniption fit when he learns I failed my exam.


skittish = nervous and hard to control

The investors are unconvinced, skittish and won’t take a decision soon.
