Work and life balance

I read one report several days ago, the writer was one previous employee of Huawei company, which is famous for overwork. In the report, the writer said that she had no private time besides work, and she felt like in another college, because the company provided cafeteria, regular bus, and  social club to get girl/boy friends, also that’s how she met her husband there. All she wanted to do is work and work, and it’s common thing to work till 9:00 pm or after that time. After several years, she became unsatisfied with her current work and life condition, and wanted to own much more free time to handle freely, actually what’s she want was freedom, so she left the company and felt released. About this issue, I am totally agree with the writer.

Work and life balance / the work-life balance

I read a report several days ago, which was written by a previous employee of Huawei company, which is famous for working overtime / making their staff work overtime / overworking their staff. In the report, the writer said that she had no free time (had nothing in her life except work), and she felt like she was back in college, because the company provided a cafeteria, regular buses, and a social club to get girl/boy friends, also that’s how she met her husband. All she wanted to do was work and work, and it’s a common thing to work till 9:00 pm or afterwards. After several years, she became unsatisfied with her current work and life condition, and wanted to have much more free time to handle herself. Actually what she wanted was freedom, so she left the company and felt relieved. About this issue, I totally agree with the writer.

relieved = the feeling of pressure being released

metaphoric < > literal
eg. he is literally a pig = he actually is a pig and we can eat him – literal
eg2. he is a pig = he eats a lot and is fat – metaphor

overtime work = jia ban

overwork sb = to make you work too much
eg. i do overtime work everyday so I’m overworked

video conference

once a timeonce = one time

eg. once he called a meeting and made us watch him code

soft engineersoftware engineer

i’m not know himi don’t know him

sent a blanket email – sent an email to all

bizarre – very weird or strange

eg. i think hes a really bizarre guy

during the grow up of his daughter during the time his daughter was growing up / during his daughter’s childhood
