If you ask me are there too many advertisements no matter in TV or magazines in our everyday life now, my answer is definitely yes. It’s kind of ruin my interest in watching TV in a certain aspect actually. We used to see those advertisements between two shows, which was acceptable, because at least I could switch to another channel to skip seeing those annoying stuffs then get back to show when advertisements finished. But recently there’s a trend that an increasing number of sponsors prefer to implant their advertisements into shows in order to gain more attention. It drives me crazy especially when I get touched by some images and then cameras suddenly focus on a product packaging. That’s why more and more young people choose to use video apps to watching TV shows. Not only can we watch overseas TV programs, but we can avoid seeing advertisements as well. But that brings another problem on the table, to continue promote their products, sponsors ally with app developers to put advertisements before the shows. At first, it only maintain for 15 seconds, but now it can last for over 3 minutes. And we’re not allowed to skip forward those terrible stuffs unless we sign up memberships of those apps. The worst part about this is that the quality of advertisements is much lower in china than I expect. Most of them are boring and repetitive, I can’t even think of one that I favorite. I’d love to watch TV more if companies make more than an efforts in improving the quality of advertisement instead of inviting super stars to represent their products.

If you ask me are there too many advertisements bombarding us everyday, whether on TV or in magazines. In a way it kind of ruins watching TV. We used to see those advertisements between two shows, which was acceptable, because at least I could switch to another channel to skip those annoying commercials then get back to show when the ads were finished. But recently there’s a trend that an increasing number of sponsors prefer to implant their advertisements into shows in order to gain more attention. This is called product placement. It drives me crazy especially when I am touched by some evocative images and then the cameras suddenly focus on a product packaging. That’s why more and more young people choose to use video apps to watch TV shows. Not only can we watch overseas TV programs, but we can avoid having to sit through ads as well. But that brings another problem to the table, to continue promoting their products, sponsors cooperate with app developers to put advertisements before the shows. At first, it only lasted about 15 seconds, but now it can last for over 3 minutes. And we’re unable to skip past those terribly annoying commercials unless we sign up for memberships on those apps. The worst part about this is that the production value of advertisements is much lower in China than I expected. Most of them are boring and repetitive, I can’t even think of one that I actually like. I’d love to watch TV more if companies make more of an effort to improve the quality of ads instead of inviting super stars to promote their products.
