I watched this movie named ME BEFORE YOU weeks ago, which was played by Sam Claflin and Emilia Clarke who is known as the dragonsā€™ mother of Game Of Throne. Honestly, I had no idea what kind of story it was going to be and didnā€™t expect much for it at first. But it really hit me when I finished. I donā€™t remember the charactersā€™ names, so letā€™s just call their real names here.

Just like any other hero in every movie, Sam is from a wealthy family of a big city with very good looking. He has a lot of friends, an amazing girlfriend, a good job, a nice motorcycle and everything you can imagine. You can say that he was born with a golden spoon. He likes to take any adventurous sports, such as racing car, paddle surfing, and parachute. But unfortunately he gets hurt seriously in a car accident in a rainy day when heā€™s at thirties. He cannot control any part of his body except his head as he leaves the hospital. He loses everything he owned before. Even a slightly fever can easily end his live. After a couple months’ treatments, he can still only control two fingers to move his wheel chair.

Our Emilia, on the other hand, is a perfectly normal countryside girl with exaggerate hairstyle who likes to wear colorful dresses and silk stocking and some weird high heal sandals. She once worked in a coffee shop over six years until her boss sold the store and had to let her off. So she immediately starts to seek other better chances in order to raise her family. Days later, she gets this job to take care of this man in a villa who canā€™t look after himself, and this man happens to be Sam. Before Emilia, Samā€™s mother has fired a few girls because they canā€™t get along with her son well, but Emilia is not one of these girls. Sheā€™s intelligent, kind and optimistic. Of course they have a tough time during the first couple days, when Sam loses his temper or tries to suicide, but Emilia tackles those problems with not only her great sense of humor but vibrant facial expression as well every time.

I forgot to mention that at the beginning of the story, Emilia had a boyfriend, but he was so selfish that he never put her first in any case, he even gave her a necklace with the locket shaped as the first letter of his name on her birthday, unlike Sam who got her the stocking which pattern was her favorite when she was a little girl.

I deemed it would be a happy story as they both experienced so much and finally fell in love with each other. I even believed that there might be a miracle that Sam would be cured with ā€˜loveā€™ and didn’t need that wheel chair anymore, cause that was where a romantic story was supposed to be going. But Iā€™m totally wrong.

It turns out that Sam never gives up on death since the first day he left hospital. He promises his parent to live two more years to see if he still want to die, but in the bottom of his heart, he can’t accept the person who he really is now and wants to end up himself everyday even if he meets Emilia. And she realizes the truth the minute as I do when they are on the beach on the last day of their trip. A few days later, Sam goes to Swiss accompanied by his parents to have the euthanasia. On Emilia’s side, by having long conversation with her family, she finally realizes his feelings and flies to Swiss to say goodbye to him. They huddle up in the bed and talk a lot, Sam still doesnā€™t forget to encourage her to pursue her dream of being a designer, and then the picture seize up.

At the end of the movie, Emilia is sitting by herself at a coffee shop table in Paris, smiling and reading the letter from Sam that sent after he died with her symbolic hairstyle. And I canā€™t get the scene off of mind that they are both sitting in the car after coming back from a concert, Sam said, ‘I don’t want to go in yet, I just want to be a man who has been to a concert with a girl in a red dress for a few minutes more’.
