About Growing Up

If you had a choice, would you like to be a child or an adult?
Children want to grow up as quickly as possible so that they will get rid of the compulsion from their parents. However, after they grow up, they will realize that it is happier by far to be a child who has no worries even though sometimes they are compelled to do this or that.
Through growing up, you will learn how to agree-to-disagree; how to calm down when you get really anger; how to smile at someone you don’t like at all.
It is indeed difficult and confusing to be an adult. If you are mean, you will not have friends; but if you are generous, you might be taken advantage of. If you are tough, you will be considered as a indifferent person; but if you are weak, you might be walked over by others. If you take others’ opinion with a grain of salt, you will be thought sophisticated; but it you take all that they said, you might be a superficial people to them. Yes, it is important to make other people like you but remember never go with the flow.
You will learn how to deal with these during the painful process of growing up although it may rack your brains. Since it is inevitable, enjoy the suffering of remaking yourself for you are both the marble and the sculptor.

About Growing Up

If you had a choice, would you like to be a child or an adult?
Children want to grow up as quickly as possible so (that) they can get rid of their parents’ control/influence/yoke.

However, as they grow up, they will realize that it is happier by far to be a child who has no worries (= a worriless child) even if they are sometimes compelled to do this or that.

Through growing up, you will learn how to agree to disagree; how to calm down when you get really angry and how to smile at someone you don’t like at all.

(= to take control of your emotions)

It is indeed difficult and confusing to be an adult. If you are mean, you will not have friends; but if you are generous, you might be taken advantage of. If you are tough, you will be considered as an indifferent person, but if you are weak, you might get walked over by others.

If you take others’ opinion with a grain of salt, you will be thought of as sophisticated; but it you take everything that they say at face value, you might become a superficial person to them. Yes, it is important to make other people like you but remember to never go with the flow.

(= it can be hard to play your cards right and keep your identity)
You will learn how to deal with these during the painful process of growing up, although it may make you rack your brains. Since it is inevitable, enjoy the suffering of remaking yourself, for you are both the marble and the sculptor.
