Dear Madam,Dear Sir
My name is Lina Guo and I am a candidate for the Character Animation Course of Sheridan School. I graduated with fine art and I have accumulated six years of experience in scene and creature modeling.
I have worked with some great teams and have learned so much from them, but meanwhile ,I realized that I can not satisfy with it, I want to do things more traditional and more creative . It seems like contradictory , I would like explain to you.
First of all, animation itself is traditional and creative, since it has a history of more than a hundred years , of course it requires high skills to make great works, in the mean time, it still can be so dynamic because of those countless artists constantly pour the fresh blood into it. As we know,Sheridan has cultivated so many excellent graduates and they are active in this industry .
There were many amazing traditional animated pictures when I was a child, like “Havoc In Heaven “”Prince NeZha’s Triumph Against Dragon King ,” I love the graceful ,exquisite and magnificent Chinese spirit in these films, but now such representative Chinese animated pictures are so rare. I am not saying that only ancient or mythological themes could represent Chinese spirit, rather, in my opinion Chinese people still have this spirit in our modern life and culture but showed little in our animated pictures. There are many artists are working on this, and I know that if I want to be one of them there is still a way to go. Now I am a huge fan of western animated movies, every detail from figurative concept and motion to abstract atmosphere and culture shows every technician and artist’s passion and effort. And that is exactly what I need, professional knowledge and attitude. Therefore, I come to Sheridan.
I have many hobbies outside of work, such as painting, photography, singing, dancing ,traveling and reading, and I also like my work. But as a modeler, my work is just not as colorful as my spare time. I want to combine things that I like to see if there will be a chemical reaction. I feel excited when I make the characters or creatures to move even to dance, like I can put soul into them.but I sometimes felt limited by the capabilities. I have a strong desire for studying. Therefore, I come to Sheridan.
I hope I am not considered too ambitious to be so many ways of traditional and creative. With my artistic foundation, working experience and passion for animation ,I have confidence that I will fit the courses of Character Animation, and I will be submitting my portfolio and CV.
I greatly appreciate your consideration and look forward to receive news that I will be accepted .

Sincerely
Lina Guo

As we know, Sheridan has cultivated so many excellent graduates and they are active in this industry.
