Demo Class Notes (Astrid – Tibo)

Speaking exercise

I am Astrid and the reason why I come here is I changed my job recently

I was graduated 6 years ago with master

I was in Adidas and then joined Sephora but during the past 6 years I used English for email writing or meetings but I do not have the needs to independently communicate with the global team

Now I changed my job to Loreal and I can foresee that if I want further development in my career I need English to communicate smoothly .

I am confident when I have oral situation. I found there are a lot of colleagues who are from Europe surrounded me.
I don’t say hello because I worry they start to communicate with me.

some projects needs global support.
If they present something to me I will get lost.
For the things I am not familiar with I cannot catch up quickly.
Maybe because of vocabulary and accent
If we have a meeting always it is conference call and the connect is not very good.

Before I presented it I can prepare, if they ask some questions maybe sometimes I will be difficult for me to answer it.
sometimes I don’t get what they are asking about or I don’t know how to answer.

I guess my job will focus on projects and finance related project. Digital marketing. For example do some market share analysis of our competitors.
I did things like CRM revamp and I also in charge of our brand PnL

Not very comfortable with graphs. I am afraid they ask me question

The most important is I have no confidence and I will be shy when I come to a new environment but when I become familiar with them I can’t perform well but I think the first communication is important.

I agree with black lives matter because people say we were born equally but it is hard to see everyone as the same. Sometimes black people indeed perform not very well and others will have some bad words.
at the point of government they need to have the laws to protect the black people in a lot of situations like work and their daily life but it is hard to ask the normal people to have the same attitude toward them.

He needs to take care of his behavior

Sephora supply chain was not impacted a lot because a lot of our products are products locally and we had enough inventories to sold out.
The problem was our sales
They may buy a lot of cosmetics in domestic but because Sephora is only a retail and brands had discounts they go to brands directly.
We cannot have the same deep discount as them.
people prefer to shopping online and the discount is not very deep online.
For Sephora sales comes a lot from retail stores.
Better but not come back to 2019
