Demo Class Notes (Aria – Jesse)

Aria

– around 10 years old, mum is an English teacher. 

She was very quiet and spoke using short sentences today – possibly due to nervousness but could be personality. Her pronunciation was generally good, with no obvious serious problems. Sentences were short so needs to learn conjunctions and prepositions to add details. May not have learned tense yet. Seems to have a very limited vocabulary so may need more reading – 30 minutes per day may not be enough – I would suggest at least 1 hour per day of reading and find a book series that she loves to read (Kitty & Dragon may be suitable).

In class: Mr Bean video speaking, simple sentence building using conjunctions, learn to say when she doesn’t know, ask how to say words, and communicate understanding or misunderstanding. Simple book reading and discuss vocabulary and meaning of pages. At home: Mr Bean video writing, review class notes, read books from class, use vocabulary from class to write about Mr Bean video. After 3 months: start to do more advanced sentences, learning synonyms for connectives, and learn self correction.
