Tee – the wooden/ stick that the golf ball sits on
eg: He hit the tee but totally missed the ball.
Drive N. – your initial hit off the tee in golf
eg: That was a huge drive, it was almost 300 yards.
Driving Range – the place where you practice your drive.
eg: I’ve only been to the driving range, I’ve never played a full 18.
Mini Golf
Pitch and Putt – a short version of golf, a pitch is a short shot in golf, and the putt is to get in the hole
escalate – to make a situation get bigger and worse
eg: They didn’t need to escalate the situation.
considerate – to think of others
to draw a parallel – to compare two similar yet different situations
eg: In the article they draw a parallel between culture problems and economic problems.
being high and mighty – acting like they are better than you, or more noble.
eg: Don’t act all high and mighty.
Condescending – showing that you believe you are more intelligent or better than other people
eg: His comments were offensive and condescending to us.
hypocrite – a person who claims or pretends to have certain beliefs about what is right but who behaves in a way that disagrees with those beliefs
eg: He didn’t even realize what a hypocrite he was being.
